2024 International Young Choreographer’s Project (IYCP)

A choreographic opportunity for emerging Malaysian choreographers in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in July 2024.

Three to four choreographers from the Asia-Pacific region will be selected to participate in this project in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. MyDance Alliance will nominate ONE potential participant from Malaysia, to be considered by project organisers Tso’s Dance Association, Taiwan.

The project is located in the city of Kaohsiung, in southern Taiwan. Tentative dates for the 2024 event are from 1-19 July, with two performances taking place on the main stage of the theatre on Tsoying High School campus on 20-21 July.

This project is supported by the National Culture and Arts Foundation, Bureau Culture Affairs of Kaohsiung City Government, and the Chin-Lin Foundation for Culture and Arts in Taiwan.

The project will provide housing, local transportation, dancers, studios, publicity, production and office assistance, and an honorarium of US$800 to the selected applicants. MyDance Alliance will provide airfare assistance.

The selected choreographers will be required to stage a new short work on Taiwanese dancers during the 3-week project. The Taiwanese dancers will be auditioned and selected by the project. It is recommended that only young choreographers who feel they can meet the challenges of producing a work under unfamiliar circumstances and with unfamiliar dancers should apply.

To apply to this opportunity, please submit the completed application form by email to contact@mydancealliance.org by 31 November 2023.
