Penang YTL Arts Festival 2003

The Penang YTL Arts Festival Committee is calling for proposals from individuals, troupes and companies to participate in the 2003 Festival scheduled to run 6-29 June 2003.

To apply, a copy of the official Proposal Form will need to be submitted along with the additional materials requested to the Administrator at pen_ytl_arts@hotmail.com.

Kua Bu IV – Lets Party!

Presented by the Sel & KL Kwang Tung Association Youth Section’s Dance Troupe, ‘Kua Bu IV – Lets Party!’ is the fourth in its series of annual performances by beginners and intermediate students. In addition to performing the students are involved backstage, front of house and with general administration. This is to enable them to acquire a well-rounded practical experience in dance production work.

The performance comprising several pieces choreographed by the teachers of the association (Cheong Lin Poo, Michelle Yong, Kenzo de Tuan and Amy Len Siew Mee) will reflect the wide range of training the students have been exposed to from contemporary dance, Chinese dance and ballet to theatre and improvisation skills.

Dinner-Dance for Ballroom & Latin Dance Lovers

William & Luisa Danceworld is organising a dinner-dance for its “10th Anniversary Gala Ball”.

Gen-e Dance Camp 3

Batu Dance Theatre is offering a 5-day intensive dance workshop/camp for young people (and the young at heart) during the long holidays at the Waja Resort in Kuala Selangor.

Experienced teachers and dancers include:
Tan Lian Ho – Founder/Director of Batu Dance Theatre and Asian Youth Dance Educator
Jane Lew – Ballet teacher trained at the Joffrey Ballet School and Merce Cunningham School
Lim Bee Li & Yong Chew Yee – dancers from Singapore

Classes include:
Aerobics, Contemporary, Jazz/HipHop, Contact Improvisation, Ballet and Chinese Dance among others

In addition to dance classes there will be many opportunities for the participants to socialise in the relaxed surroundings.

Lets Dance

Lets Dance by the Kwangsi Dance Troupe is the latest in the Dance Box Series organised by MyDance Alliance in collaboration with The Actors Studio.

It will feature works choreographed by Choo Tee Kuang, Eng Hee Ling, Mun Lee, A Aris A Kadir, Lee Swee Keong and Woon Fook Sen.

The main objective of the performance is for the troupe’s new dancers to gain experience and exposure before performing at the International Arts and Folk Songs Festival in Nanning, Guangxi, China.

Cahaya Sutra 2002

Cahaya Sutra 2002 is Sutra Dance Theatre’s answer to Deepavali, the Indian Festival of Lights celebration. An annual event, it marks the end of a busy and productive year.

It is also a FUN night where talents are displayed and discovered, and where friends and family can partake in the development of their favourite dancers.

This year’s Cahaya Sutra will feature Sutra dancers (including Ramli Ibrahim) performing Odissi and Bharata Natyam.

Coffee, soft drinks and delicious finger food will be available.
